  • Adventure Camps: Rock Climbing
  • Description: Frontier Lodge, located in the Canadian Rockies near Nordegg, Alberta, was founded by Lou Peskett and Youth for Christ in 1959. The camp strives to use the beauty and ruggedness of the mountains to challenge both young and old in a safe environment. Frontier is situated on a spring-fed mountain lake with canoeing, fishing, and swimming available. There are trails from the lodge that can be used for hiking, mountain biking or skiing. More extensive trails are only a short distance away. A wide variety of outdoor programs are offered ranging from mountain biking, rock climbing and whitewater canoeing in summer to ice climbing, skiing and snowshoeing in winter. High-quality safety and program equipment is provided at no additional charge. In addition to the annual summer camps, Frontier lodge is also open year-round as a small retreat/conference center. Groups looking for a place to hold a business conference, church retreat or to do wilderness activities can contact the camp to customize their program. The camp specializes in youth retreats and school outdoor education. Frontier Lodge offers the awesome scenery of the Canadian Rockies, warm hospitality, and a comfortable place to stay. Whether you are an organized group with a customized program or an individual participating in an organized event, you will find Frontier Lodge a great place to relax and enjoy God's nature. The main lodge contains the dining area and meeting place for up to 100 people. There are eight winterized cabins that sleep 9-10 people each in dorm-style bunk beds. Two cabins have bathrooms; the others use large central bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. Surrounded by woods and wildlife, the camp has a truly wilderness atmosphere that is both relaxing and inspiring. The mission of Frontier is “to use God’s wilderness to reach, teach and train youth and adults for Jesus Christ”, and you are invited to come, be challenged and enjoy the beauty of His creation.

    Camp Season: 2005-01-01 to 2005-12-31
Sessions: S.A.L.T (Summer Adventure Leadership Training)

SALT is designed to challenge Christian high school students who want to grow in their leadership abilities, improve their outdoor skills, and enhance their relationship with God.

Our desire for this three week program is that each participant will grow spiritually and personally through leadership training opportunities, learning practical wilderness skills, and service projects. This will be accomplished by examining our Christian faith through group Bible study, discussions, and practical service in the community of Nordegg.

Learning more about our own abilities with opportunities to work individually and as a team will enhance the leadership skills training process. Outdoor skills will be learned and practiced on day trips and extended out trips. You will be challenged mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Attending S.A.L.T. is also great training for those who may want to join the Frontier Lodge staff team in the future. Enrollment is limited to twelve participants. There is an application process for entrance into the program (SALT Application.doc).
