Description:
Rutgers is one of the nation's major state universities. Chartered in 1766, it has a unique history as a colonial college, a land-grant institution, and a state university. As the arts conservatory of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, Mason Gross School of the Arts is a professional school offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in music, theater arts, and visual arts, in addition to undergraduate degrees in dance. Mason Gross’ mission is to identify and nurture outstanding creative talent. As a summer camper you will have the opportunity to impress them with your talent.
Headed by faculty member John Evans whose career spans performance in professional dance companies and lighting for dance since 1980, campers will take daily classes in contemporary dance, ballet, theater work, improv and repertory. Mr. Evans will be joined by a number of his other outstanding colleagues in teaching classes and presenting interesting evening talks and films. This wonderful dance intensive will keep dancers dancing throughout the week and still leave some time for social activity and local sightseeing. The week ends with a public showing of their work.
