THE SUMMER COMPUTER CAMP FOR TEENS

DMA offers day and overnight computer camps in weekly and multi-week sessions for teens starting at age 13.  Courses accommodate a wide variety of digital media interests in a more sophisticated learning environment than other summer computer camps.  Al courses are project-based and taught by industry experts and award-winning instructors in state-of-the-art classroom facilities.  An average student to instructor ratio of 7 to 1 allows for plenty of individual attention as you explore, create and immerse yourself in an environment that is more like a production studio than a classroom.

Introductory to advanced weekly sessions include:

    • 3D Video Game Design
    • Hands-on Filmmaking
    • Video Editing
    • Robotics
    • 3D Character Modeling
    • Flash Scripting
    • C++ Programming
    • Over 30 weekly sessions in all!

    Multi-Week Certification Programs for Teens

DMA is an Apple and Adobe Authorized Training center.  Teens are eligible to take courses at DMA that lead to industry certification in Final Cut Pro and other professional content areas.  In addition, DMA offers the following super popular multi-week certification programs:

    • 3D game design Certification
    • Hands-On Filmmaking Certification
    • Maya Character Animation Certification

At all DMA University locations, teens may commute or stay on campus in university housing, in doubles or triples, separated by age and gender.  A dedicated DMA staff team lives in the dorm coordinating evening and weekend activities while ensure a fun and safe experience for everyone.  Organized activities include group sports, exploring the campus, and trips to nearby entertainment venues, such as movie theaters, bowling alleys, miniature golf courses or arcades.  Weekend activities may include professional sporting events, amusement parks, touring nearby cities and more.

Teens living on campus receive breakfast, lunch and dinner in a university dining hall.  Commuting teens may purchase a dining hall lunch pass or buy their own lunch at one of several restaurants on campus.

THE SUMMER COMPUTER CAMP FOR KIDS (Age 9 – 13)

The Digital Media Academy offers separate courses for kids, age 9 – 13 (at all its campus locations), called Digital Media Adventures.  Like DMA’s teen courses, the hallmark of Adventures is its superior instructors.  Other summer computer camps, by necessity, hire young people barely out of high school as instructors.  At Digital Media Adventures, we have a more sophisticated approach.  Our master instructors have a level of expertise you simple will not find at other computer camps.  They are real-world industry professionals, working in the fields of 3D animation, video production and game design who also have a passion for teaching kids.  Our instructors are older, have more experience, are more professional, and are paid more than those at other computer camps … and it shows.  With a typical instructor-to-staff ratio of 5 to 1, kids get lots of attention.  Choose from the following weekly sessions:

    • Adventures in Robotics
    • Adventures in Filmmaking & Effects
    • Adventures in Game Design
    • Adventures in 3D Game Design Extreme
    • Adventures in Web Design & Flash

Kids typically stay 2 or more weeks, combining topics for a more rounded experience or taking the same course a second or third time to explore more advanced techniques.  Kids staying on campus are house separately from teens, grouped by gender and age, and supervised by our dedicated Adventures live-in adult counselors.

A Well Rounded Experience for Your Child

At Digital Media Adventures, we strike a balance between in-class learning and out-of-doors fun.  We recognize that kids need to move!  We take breaks for recreation in the morning and afternoon that may include soccer, ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, basketball, scavenger hunts and other crazy outdoor games.  Evenings and weekends are packed with more organized outdoor activities with weekend trips to amusement parks, Lazer Tag facilities, video arcades and more.  And of course, our adult supervisors ensure a fun and safe time for everyone!

Your Child’s Safety is our #1 Priority

We are parents too!  We understand that safety is extremely important.  In fact, some of our own children are enrolled in Digital Media Adventures.  From First Aid and CPR training to in-dept staff background checks, our program has taken every precaution to ensure a safe and fun experience.

“As a mom, I was extremely impressed by the quality of the course my child took.”

    - Sharon, DMA Parent
